The Brexit Withdrawal Agreement will enter into force on February 1, 2020. There is a transition phase until the end of 2020, in which nothing will change for citizens or for companies. In the transition phase, EU law continues to apply to the United Kingdom, but without British participation rights in the EU institutions. Great Britain continues to be a member of the EU internal market and part of the EU customs union during the transition phase. Negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and the UK after December 31, 2020 are expected to begin in March 2020.
